The WTA tour continues in the USA.
2022 San Diego Open, a WTA 500 tournament, on Hard, in San Diego, California, USA, 10-16 October 2022.
This is the first time the tournament has been held since 2015, when it was held as a WTA Challenger, and before that 2013, when as a WTA Premier level event, wildcard Samantha Stosur (5) defeated Victoria Azarenka (1) 6-2 6-3 in the final.
The following players withdrew after entering but before the main draw was published:
- Beatriz Haddad Maia replaced by Liudmila Samsonova
- Anett Kontaveit replaced by Bianca Andreescu
- Petra Kvitova replaced by Martina Trevisan
- Jelena Ostapenko replaced by Alison Riske-Amritraj
Iga Swiatek, world number 1, is top seed.
The other 7 seeds are all in the top 11
The top four seeds have first round byes.
