Alcaraz wins Barcelona Open

Final day in Barcelona.

Final:

Carlos Alcaraz (1) (Spain) v Stefanos Tsitsipas (2) (Greece)

Alcaraz won all three previous meetings between the players, the most recent being a quarter final of this tournament last year.

Tsitsipas broke serve in the third game of the opening set and led 2-1
Alcaraz broke straight back for 2-2.

Serving at 3-4, Tsitsipas was broken again, and Alcaraz then served out the set 6-3.

Alcaraz broke the Tsitsipas serve in game five of set two.
Winning lob and winning drop shot were the highlights as he took a 3-2 lead.
Quick consolidation for 4-2.

Tsitsipas served at 3-5 to stay in the match.
A love game gave Alcaraz the chance to serve for it.

Alcaraz served at 5-4.
Easy put away at the net by the top seed 15-0. Drop shot winner by Alcaraz 30-0.
Forehand winner from Alcaraz Three match points.
Forehand winner from Alcaraz finished the match.

Carlos Alcaraz won the tournament final 6-3 6-4 and the trophy.
It was his ninth career title and third of the year.

Lajovic wins Srpska Open

Final day in Banja Luka.

2023 Srpska Open, an ATP 250 tournament, on Clay, in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina, 17-23 April 2023.

This is a new tournament on the ATP Tour calendar

Final:

Dusan Lajovic (Serbia) v Andrey Rublev (2) (Russia)

Lajovic won the only previous encounter between the pair - second round in Umag 2019.

Lajovic saved three break points in the opening game of set one before holding serve.
Rublev saved four break points in the fourth game, but not a fifth and Lajovic led 3-1.

No more break chances, and Lajovic served out the set 6-3.

Rublev broke serve in the second game of set two to lead 2-0.
Lajovic Rome back in the fifth game and trailed 2-3.

Serving at 4-5, Lajovic dropped serve and Rublev took the set 6-4, levelling the match.

In the decider, Lajovic broke the Rublev serve in game three.
He saved a break point on the way to consolidating for 3-1.

Lajovic broke in the fifth game to lead 4-1.

Serving for the match at 5-2, Lajovic was broken, but still led 5-3 with a break.

Lajovic served at 5-4 for the match and was successful on his third match point in the game.

Dusan Lajovic won 6-3 4-6 6-4 to be the inaugural winner of the tournament.

It was title number two for Lajovic and follows his debut win - the Croatia Open in Umag, July 2019.

Rune wins Munich title

Final day in Munich.

2023 BMW Open by American Express, an ATP 250 tournament, on Clay, in Munich, Germany, 17-23 April 2023.

Defending champion:
Wildcard Holger Rune who defeated Botic van de Zandschulp (8) 3-4 (retired)

Final:

Holger Rune (1) (Denmark) v Botic van de Zandschulp (4) (Netherlands)

The players had played each other once before - in last year’s final of this tournament.
Rune won a match that lasted just seven games before his opponent was forced to retire through injury.

In set one of the 2023 replay Rune broke serve in the opening game.
van de Zandschulp broke back to level at 2-2.
Rune gained the advantage once more by converting the second of two break chances in the seventh game.

Rune served out the set 6-4.

van de Zandschulp broke serve in the fourth game of set two, and led 3-1.
He broke the Rune serve again in the sixth game to lead 5-1.
van de Zandschulp served out the set 6-1.

In the opening game of the decider, van de Zandschulp converted the third of three break points.
A love game on serve consolidated his lead to 2-0.

van de Zandschulp saved two break points before holding in the fourth game and led 3-1.
Rune had his serve broken in the seventh game and van de Zandschulp would serve for the match at 5-2.

At 40-15, van de Zandschulp had two match points, but these disappeared and eventually Rune broke serve.
He trailed 3-5, and was still down a break, but things were tightening.

Rune held serve, and van de Zandschulp was at the line 5-4, again serving for the match.
Rune was successful with his fourth break point in the game, and it was 5-5.

van de Zandschulp broke straight back, led 6-5, and would be serving a third time for the match.

At 40-15 another two match points vanished, and Rune ultimately broke serve. 
A tie break would decide the issue.

Rune won the only points taken against serve in the tie break and won it.

Holger Rune won the match 6-4 1-6 7-6(3) to take the title.

It was title number four for Rune and first since the Paris Masters in November 2022.

In set one, Sabalenka saved a break point in game two, and held serve.
No other break points were faced in the first seven games.

Serving at 3-4, Sabalenka saved two break points, but Swiatek converted a third and led 5-3.
Swiatek proceeded to serve out the set 6-3.

Swiatek broke serve in the opening game of set two.
Break points were saved by both players in games three and four, and serve was held for the remainder of the match.

Swiatek served out the match 6-3 6-4 to retain her title.

It was title number 13 for Iga Swiatek, and second for 2023.
