Medvedev wins Miami Open

Final day in Miami.

2023 Miami Open presented by Itau, an ATP Masters 1000 tournament, on Hard, in Miami, Florida, USA, 21 March - 2 April 2023.

Defending champion:

Carlos Alcaraz (14) who defeated Casper Ruud (6) 7-5 6-4

Final:

Jannik Sinner (10) (Italy) v Daniil Medvedev (4) (Russia)

Medvedev won all five previous contests between the players, including the most recent - Rotterdam final in February this year.

In game two of the opening set, Sinner saved a break point before holding serve.

He saved four break points in the fifth game but couldn’t save a fifth. Medvedev led 3-2.

Sinner broke back immediately.

Serving at 5-6, Sinner was broken for a second time and Medvedev took the set 7-5.

There were three breaks of serve in games two through four of set two, and as a result Medvedev led 3-1.

Neither player faced any more break points, and Medvedev served out the match 7-5 6-3.

This was title number 19 for Medvedev, and fourth for this year.
