The players met twice before this final.
Kontaveit won a round robin match in the 2021 WTA Finals.
Krejcikova won a semi final in Sydney early this year.
In the final, Krejcikova broke first, in the sixth game of the opening set, to lead 4-2.
Serving at 2-5 to stay in the set, Kontaveit failed, and Krejcikova led 6-2.
The pair traded breaks in the opening two games of set two.
In game four, serving at 1-2, Krejcikova survived five deuces and saved two break points.
Kontaveit converted the third, and led 3-1.
Krejcikova immediately broke back, and broke again in the eighth game for a 5-3 advantage.
The seventh seed served out the match 6-2 6-3.
Barbora Krejcikova claimed the title, her fourth from seven finals, and first since the Prague Open in July last year.
