Djokovic wins Tel Aviv title

Final day in Tel Aviv.

2022 Tel Aviv Watergen Open, an ATP 250 tournament, on Hard Indoor, in Tel Aviv, Israel, 26 September - 2 October 2022.

This is the first time the tournament has been held at ATP Tour level since 1996, when Javier Sanchez (4) defeated Marcos Ondruska 6-4 7-5 in the final.

Final:

Novak Djokovic (1) (Serbia) v Marin Cilic (2) (Croatia)

Djokovic won 18 of the previous 20 matches between the players.
The most recent meeting was a Djokovic win in the Davis Cup semi final last year.

Cilic survived two double faults, and saved two break points in the second game of the opening set.

In game four, Cilic double faulted at 15-30, giving Djokovic two break points.
One was saved, but not the next, and Djokovic led 3-1.

No more break chances and Djokovic served out the set 6-3.

Djokovic began set two by breaking the Cilic serve in the opening game.

Cilic saved a break point in the fifth game to avoid being a double break down.
Djokovic saved a break point in the next game and held for 4-2.

Cilic held in the ninth game and trailed 4-5.

Djokovic served for the match.
Return out of court. 15-0. Djokovic backhand down the line winner. 30-0. Djokovic backhand winner. Three match points.
Service winner ended the match.

Novak Djokovic won the match 6-3 6-4 and claimed the title.
His title number 89 from 127 finals.
Three titles this year, on three different surfaces, from four finals.
