Danielle Collins (7) who defeated Daria Kasatkina (4) 6-3 6-7(10) 6-1
Fifth seed Garbiñe Muguruza withdrew after the main draw was published due to injury, and was replaced by lucky loser Caroline Dolehide.
Veronika Kudermetova was instated as ninth seed and moved in the draw to the place previously occupied by Muguruza.
Qualifier Taylor Townsend took the place in the draw previously occupied by Kudermetova, and defeated qualifier Storm Sanders.
Dolehide took the place in the draw originally allocated to a qualifier, and would play qualifier Kayla Day.
