Yoshihito Nishioka (Japan) v Nick Kyrgios (Australia)
Kyrgios won all three previous meetings between the players, including the most recent - round of sixteen in this tournament in 2019.
Kyrgios proceeded to win the tournament.
Kyrgios opened well by breaking the Nishioka serve.
The Australian saved a break back point in the sixth game, and held to lead 4-2.
No more break chances and Kyrgios served out the set 6-4.
After leading 40-15 in the opening game of set two, Nishioka lost the remaining points and was broken.
No more break chances until Nishioka served at 3-5 to stay in the match.
He saved two match points but couldn’t save a third and Kyrgios won 6-4 6-3.
It was the seventh title for Kyrgios and second here in Washington.
The Australian did not have his serve broken for the entire tournament.
