In the only previous encounter between the players, Medvedev won in straight sets in the 2019 Shanghai Masters tournament.
No breaks of serve in the first four games, but then three straight breaks, two of the Norrie delivery.
This left Medvedev ahead 4-3 with serve to come.
He consolidated with a love game.
Norrie held, forcing Medvedev to serve for the set.
Leading 40-15, Medvedev watched two set points disappear, then saw Norrie convert a break point to level things at 5-5.
Having fought his way back, Norrie immediately contributed a poor game and was broken again.
Medvedev served at 6-5, and this time he made no mistake, a love game ending the set in his favour 7-5.
Set two began badly for Norrie, his opening serve broken, and Medvedev holding for 2-0.
A second break and 3-0 - everything flowing in the top seed’s direction.
Medvedev broke for a third time in the set and at 5-0 would serve for the match.
Daniil Medvedev won the match 7-5 6-0, securing his 14th title from 26 finals, his first this year.
