Kasatkina wins Granby title

Final day in Granby.

2022 Championnats Banque Nationale de Granby, a WTA 250 tournament, on Hard, in Granby, Canada, 21-27 August 2022.

Previously an ITF Women’s World Tour tournament, and now upgraded to a WTA Tour level event.

Final:

Wildcard Daria Kasatkina (1) v Daria Saville (9) (Australia)

Kasatkina won both previous matches between the pair, although they were in 2015 and 2017.

In this final, after Kasatkina held in the opening game, breaks of serve occurred in the next three games, leaving Kasatkina ahead 3-1.
No more break chances until Kasatkina served for the set at 5-3.
Here, Saville broke back withthe second of two break points.
Games were back serve, Kasatkina leading 5-4.

Serving to stay in the set, Saville saw a game point go by, and then was eventually broken, Kasatkina taking the set 6-4.

Kasatkina survived three deuces and a break point, to hold serve in the opening game of set two.

Down 0-40 in game four, Saville saved one break point, but not the next, and Kasatkina extended her advantage to 3-1.
Saville broke back in the seventh game and trailed 3-4 with serve to come.
Saville led 40-0 but lost the next five points and was broken.

Kasatkina led 5-3 and served for the match.
From 30-0, Kasatkina lost four straight points and was broken.
Saville survived again and would serve at 4-5 to continue in the match.

Down 15-40 amd facing two match points, Saville saved both. 
She saved two more, but couldn’t save a fifth and Daria Kasatkina won the match 6-4 6-4.
It was title number six from eleven finals, and the second this year, following the crown in San Jose earlier in the month.
