The pair had never played each other in an ATP match before this final.
de Minaur saved two break points in game three of the opening set to lead 2-1.
The Australian was the first to strike, breaking Brooksby in the sixth game. 4-2.
No more break chances and de Minaur served out the set 6-3.
de Minaur broke the American serve in the opening game of set two.
Brooksby returned the favour, but only after de Minaur had saved a couple of break points.
de Minaur broke serve in the seventh game and led 4-3.
He consolidated with a service hold and was close to the finish line.
Serving to stay in the match, Brooksby led 40-30, but de Minaur won the next three points to win the game, set and match.
Alex de Minaur won the day 6-3 6-3, his second Atlanta Open and sixth title overall.
