Pera’s first title in Budapest

Final day in Budapest.

2022 Hungarian Grand Prix, a WTA 250 tournament, on Clayin Budapest, Hungary, 11-17 July 2022.

Defending champion:
Yulia Putintseva (1) who defeated Anhelina Kalinina 6-4 6-0

Final:

Aleksandra Krunic (Serbia) v qualifier Bernarda Pera (USA)

Pera won both previous meetings between the pair, the most recent October last year in Moscow.

Pera broke serve in the second game, and saved four break points in the fifth game to lead 4-1.
Serving for the set at 5-3, Pera saved a break point, then saw four set points disappear before taking the set 6-3 with the fifth.

Krunic saved four break points in the opening game of set two, but was broken in the fifth.
She immediately broke back for 3-3. However, that was her last success as Pera won the next three games and the match 6-3 6-3.

The title was the first for Bernarda Pera in her first WTA final.
