Begu wins Palermo title

Danielle Collins (1) defeated qualifier Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6-4 6-2

Final:

Lucia Bronzetti (Italy) v Irina-Camelia Begu (6) (Romania)

This was the first meeting between the players.

Four of the first five games in set one were breaks of serve.

Three of these were breaks of the Bronzetti delivery, and Begu led 4-2.

The Romanian proceeded to win the set 6-2.

Begu broke Bronzetti’s serve in games one and three of set two, but was broken herself in the fourth.

Serving at 2-4, Bronzetti dropped serve again, and was down a double break.

Irina-Camelia Begu served out the match 6-2 6-2 to claim her fifth title, and first since Bucharest in July 2017.
