Final:
Carlos Alcaraz (1) (Spain) v Lorenzo Musetti (Italy)
This would be the first meeting between the players.
Alcaraz served first and was broken.
He returned the favour and scores were 1-1 in the opening set.
The next break chance was available in the seventh game, and Musetti converted to take a 4-3 lead.
He consolidated to be within a game of the set.
Alcaraz held, forcing Musetti to serve for the set.
Musetti won the set 6-4.
Alcaraz saved a break point in the opening game of set two, but after seeing two games points disappear, another break point couldn’t be saved, and Musetti was ahead 1-0.
No more break points until Musetti served at 4-3.
Down 0-40, he saved the three break points and held for 5-3.
Serving for the match at 5-4, Musetti wasted two match points and ultimately was broken.
A tie break was needed.
Alcaraz led 3-1 then lost the next five points, giving Musetti three more match points.
These all vanished and Alcaraz won the set 7-6(6), winning the last five points.
Alcaraz saved a break point in the sixth game of the decider. 3-3.
Serving at 4-5, Alcaraz led 30-15, but lost the next three points, and Lorenzo Musetti won the match 6-4 6-7(4) 6-4.
This was his first title in his first final.
