Cressy first title at Newport

Final day in Newport.

2022 Infosys Hall of Fame Open, an ATP 250 tournament, on Grassin Newport, Rhode Island, USA, 10-17 July 2022.

2021 champion (not defending):
Wildcard Kevin Anderson (8) who defeated Jenson Brooksby 7-6(8) 6-4

Final:

Alexander Bublik (3) (Kazakhstan) v Maxime Cressy (4) (USA)

This would be the first meeting between the pair.

Bublik broke the Cressy serve in the second game of the opening set, and then broke again when Cressy was serving to stay in the set at 2-5.
Bublik ahead 6-2.

In set two, Bublik again achieved a break in the second game, but Cressy broke the next three Bublik serves to take the set 6-3 and force a decider.

In set three, no breaks of serve. In the only game taken to deuce, Bublik saved three break points to level at 3-3.
In the required tie break, both players won two points against serve within the first five points, and Bublik was serving at 2-3.
He lost the next point and Cressy had the edge.
Points then went with the server until Cressy reached 6-3 with three match points

Only one needed and Maxime Cressy won the match 2-6 6-3 7-6(3).
In his third final, all this year, Cressy had captured his first title.
