WTA - Chicago 1R complete

First round completed in Chicago, including completion of unfinished match from day one.

2021 Chicago Women’s Open a WTA 250 tournament, on Hard, in Chicago, Illinois, USA, 22-28 August 2021.
No defending champion:
This is a new tournament on the WTA calendar.

Second seed Camila Giorgi withdrew after the main draw was published and was replaced by lucky loser Clara Burel
Alizé Cornet was instated as ninth seed and moved in the draw to the place previously occupied by Giorgi.
For a strange reason, Burel wasn’t placed in the spot vacated by Cornet. Instead, it was filled by qualifier Aldila Sutjiadi.
Burel was placed in the the spot originally reserved for a qualifier and will play top seed Elina Svitolina.
