Timofeeva wins 1st title in Budapest

Final day in Budapest.
Including conclusion of unfinished quarter final 

2023 Hungarian Grand Prix, a WTA 250 tournament, on Clay, Budapest, Hungary, 17-23 July 2023.

Defending champion:
Qualifier Bernarda Pera who defeated Aleksandra Krunic 6-3 6-3

Final :

Lucky loser Maria Timofeeva (Russia) v Kateryna Baindl (Ukraine)

First meeting between the players, and first WTA Tour final for Timofeeva.
Second final for Baindl who was beaten finalist in the Taiwan Open in February 2018.

Timofeeva saved three break points in the sixth game of the opening set before holding serve for 3-3.
In the following game she broke the Baindl serve.

Serving at 3-5 to stay in the set, Baindl was broken again and Timofeeva was ahead 6-3.

Baindl broke the Timofeeva serve in game five of set two and led 3-2.
Serving at 3-5 to stay in the set, Timofeeva was broken again and Baindl levelled the match at 3-6 6-3.

Timofeeva broke serve in the first game of the decider and from there it was no contest.
The lucky loser won the match 6-3 3-6 6-0 and claimed her first title.

Timofeeva is the first woman to win a title in their main draw debut since 2001.
