Cocciaretto 1st title in Lausanne

Final day in Lausanne.

2023 Ladies Open Lausanne, a WTA 250 tournament, on Clay, Lausanne, Switzerland, 24-30 July 2023.

2022 champion (not defending):
Petra Martic who defeated qualifier Olga Danilovic 6-4 6-2

Final:

Clara Burel (France) v Elisabetta Cocciaretto (2) (Italy)

Cocciaretto won the only previous match between the players - a quarter final in the Makarska WTA 125K series tournament, June 2022.
Both players were hoping for a first WTA Tour title, each in their second final.

Cocciaretto saved a break point in the third game of the opening set, then broke the Burel serve to lead 3-1.
The #2 seed saved a further two break points when consolidating for 4-1.

Burel broke back in the ninth game, but when serving at 5-6 was broken to love and Cocciaretto took the set 7-5.

Cocciaretto saved a break point in game one of set two, and serves were held through six games. 3-3.
Three breaks of serve followed, and Burel led 5-4.

Burel served out the set 6-4

In the decider, Burel broke serve in the fifth game to lead 3-2.
Cocciaretto broke back in the eighth game and levelled at 4-4.
Serving at 4-5, Burel failed to hold and Cocciaretto won the match 7-5 4-6 6-4.

First title for Elisabetta Cocciaretto and  a new career high ranking of #30.
