The players met twice previously, Alcaraz winning a semi final in Madrid in 2022, and Djokovic winning a Roland Garros semi final this year.

Down 0-40, Alcaraz saved two break points, but not a third, and Djokovic led 2-0.
Djokovic consolidated for 3-0.
Alcaraz was broken again in the fourth game, but held serve at 0-5 to force Djokovic to serve for the set.
