This was title number ten for Sabalenka from fifteen finals, and her third for 2021.
She moves up three places to a career high ranking of #4.
Sabalenka played an almost faultless first set, but predictably Barty came back to level things.
In the decider, it was the top seed who had early break chances (two in the fourth game) but couldn’t convert, and Sabalenka struck in the ninth game.
The Belarusian won the final eleven points of the match.
