Gauff wins title in Parma

Final in Parma.

2021 Emilia-Romagna Open a WTA 250 tournament, on Clay, in Parma, Italy, 16-22 May 2021.

Final:

CoCo Gauff (3) (USA) v Wang Qiang (China)

In their first meeting, Gauff broke twice to lead 5-1 in the first set.
In serving for the set, the American saved three break points before converting her first set point and taking a 6-1 lead.
Set two saw Gauff save a break point to level at 2-2, then break the Chinese serve in the next game.
Wang Qiang avoided going down a double break by saving two break points in game seven but Gauff continued to control proceedings and held serve for a 5-3 advantage.
Serving to stay in the match, Wang Qiang was quickly down 0-30. A Chinese drop shot winner only delayed the inevitable, as Gauff broke to finish the match.
CoCo Gauff won the Emilia-Romagna Open, her second title from two finals, the first in Linz, October 2019.
By winning, Gauff improved her ranking to a career high of #25.
