Basilashvili wins BMW Open in Munich

Final in Munich.

2021 BMW Open an ATP 250 tournament, on Clay, in Munich, Germany, 26 April - 2 May 2021.
Event not held last year due to COVID-19.

2019 champion (not defending):
Cristian Garin who defeated Matteo Berrettini 6-1 3-6 7-6(1)


Final:


Nikoloz Basilashvili (5) (Georgia) defeated Jan-Lennard Struff (7) (Germany) 6-4 7-6(5)


Basilashvili broke the Struff serve in the very first game of the match and there was no other break of serve in the match.

In fact, Basilashvili faced the only other break point, and he saved that in the longest game of the match, where he eventually held serve for 3-3 in set two.

The tie break in set two went to serve for eight points. Struff lost the next point on his serve, then Basilashvili held for 6-4. He converted on the second match point.


This title was number five for Basilashvili from seven finals, and the second this year, following the Qatar Open in March.
