Novak Djokovic (1) (Serbia) v qualifier Alex Molcan (Slovakia)
In their first meeting, serve was difficult to hold, as shown with breaks exchanged in the first two games.
Both players dropped serve twice more, before at 4-5, Molcan let a 30-0 lead slip.
Djokovic converted the first set point available to him, and led 6-4.
In set two, after five games without a break point, serve was dropped in three successive games, leaving Djokovic at 5-3.
The top seed served it out to win 6-4 6-3.
It was the second title for Djokovic 2021, following his AO success, and he is primed for RG next week.
Molcan, in his first ATP final, performed valiantly against the worlds best, and his ranking moves up 74 places to a career high of #181.
