Day Thirteen - Women’s Singles Final at the 2022 US Open.

Iga Swiatek (1) (Poland) v Ons Jabeur (5) (Tunisia)
The players had met four times previously, with two wins apiece.
Swiatek won the most recent match - the final in Rome this year.
Swiatek opened with a blast in the first set, limiting Jabeur to just two points in three games, and held a 3-0 lead.
After being broken in her first service game, Jabeur held at her next attempt, and trailed 1-3.
Having settled, Jabeur hit three clean winners in the fourth game, forcing Swiatek to face two break points.
One was saved, but another Jabeur forehand winner down the line achieved the break.
Swiatek struck back immediately, two winners helping set up two break points.
The break came with a winner on the second, and the lead was 4-2.
Swiatek consolidated with an impressive service hold.
Jabeur served at 2-5 to stay in the set.
Netted forehand from Jabeur. Overhead netted by Jabeur. 0-30,
Overhead winner this time. 15-30. Jabeur forehand wide. Two set points.
Jabeur backhand into the net.
Swiatek took the opening set 6-2, Jabeur captive to an exemplary half hour of tennis from the world number one.
Swiatek was taken to deuce in game one of set two, but sealed the service hold with a forehand winner.
Frustration showed as Jabeur faced break point in game two.
It was saved with a strong backhand.
A second break point was converted with a Swiatek backhand down the line winner. 2-0.
In an error riddled game three, Swiatek still held sway, and found a winner in the end to seal a 3-0 advantage.
Unforced errors from Jabeur, and a double fault gave Swiatek two break points in game four.
Both were saved, the second with a forehand winner.
A third break chance arrived, thanks to another Jabeur mistake. Also saved.
Two excellent serves then led to a Jabeur escape. 1-3.
Some Swiatek errors and a Jabeur forehand winner gave Jabeur two break points.
Just one required, and the break back was secured.
A Swiatek backhand return winner, followed by another backhand winner gave the top seed a break point in game six.

A Swiatek off forehand winner and break point again.
Jabeur sent a forehand long and it was 4-2 for Swiatek.
A Swiatek double fault, a forehand error from the same racquet, and a Jabeur forehand winner set up two break points for Jabeur.
Both saved through Jabeur errors. A third break opportunity arose, and was taken when a Swiatek hit the net with a backhand.
Swiatek ahead 4-3, but games on serve.
Jabeur stopped the sequence of service breaks and held for 4-4.
Swiatek was unconvincing in her next service game, and faced three break points. Unforced errors from Jabeur were the saving grace for Swiatek, and she held on for 5-4.
Jabeur served to stay in the match.
Forehand netted by Jabeur. Forehand long from Swiatek. 15-15. Jabeur forehand long. 15-30. Jabeur forehand forced an error. 30-30.
Swiatek forehand wide. 40-30. Swiatek return netted and Jabeur held for 5-5.
Jabeur saved a match point when serving at 5-6, and held.
A tie break was required.
Five of the first six points went against serve.
Swiatek won the only point of these on serve and led 4-2.
Jabeur won the next three points and led 5-4 with two serves to come.
However, Swiatek won them both, the first with a forehand winner, the next with a Jabeur error.
Swiatek served at 6-5 to win the match.
Jabeur’s forehand sailed long and it was over.
Iga Swiatek won the battle 6-2 7-6(5) and became the 2022 US Open Women’s Singles Champion.
