Tsitsipas wins Mallorca title

Final day in Mallorca.

2022 Mallorca Championships, an ATP 250 tournament, on Grassin Mallorca, Spain, 19-25 June 2022.

Defending champion:
Wildcard Daniil Medvedev (1) who defeated Sam Querrey 6-4 6-2

Final:

Roberto Bautista Agut (5) (Spain) v wildcard Stefanos Tsitsipas (2) (Greece)

Tsitsipas had won both of the two previous matches between the players.

The opening four games of set one were all won by Tsitsipas, and although Bautista Agut retrieved one of the breaks in game six, the gap was too big, and Tsitsipas served out the set 6-4.

Tsitsipas broke serve in game three of set two, and consolidated for 3-1.
Bautista Agut won the next five games to take the set 6-3 and square the match.

In the decider, Tsitsipas broke serve in the fourth game, and held in the fifth to lead 4-1.
He served for the match at 5-3, but was broken back.
Bautista Agut levelled at 5-5.

A tie break would ultimately decide the match.

Tsitsipas played an excellent tiebreaker to win the match 6-4 3-6 7-6(2) and collect his first grass court title.
