Haddad Maia won the only previous encounter between the players - round of sixteen in Toronto, August last year.
The players exchanged breaks of serve in the first two games of set one.
No other break chances until the sixth game where Swiatek broke serve and led 4-2.
Serving to stay in the set at 2-5, Haddad Maia was broken again, and Swiatek won the set 6-2.
Swiatek survived a break point in the opening game of set two before holding serve, but was broken in the third game.
Haddad Maia was broken back in the sixth game and it was 3-3.
Swiatek saved a break point in game seven, and three more in game nine, but held serve each time.
Haddad Maia served at 5-6 to stay in the match.
She held and forced a tie break.
Swiatek won the tie break and the match 6-2 7-6(7), and now would play in the final to defend her title.
