Final day in Lyon.

2022 Open Parc Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Lyon, an ATP 250 tournament, on Clayin Lyon, France, 15-21 May 2022.

2021 champion (not defending):
Wildcard Stefanos Tsitsipas (2) who defeated Cameron Norrie 6-3 6-3

Final:

Cameron Norrie (1) (Great Britain) v Alex Molcan (Slovakia)

In their first meeting, Molcan was hoping for a first title, while Norrie was trying to go one better than his losing appearance in the 2021 Lyon final.
Norrie had already won three titles, including one this year in Delray Beach.

Norrie broke Molcan in the opening game and saved two break points before holding and led 2-0.
A love game had the Brit ahead 3-1, and Molcan’s troubles worsened next game when he dropped another serve.

Molcan retrieved one of the breaks in game six, but serving at 3-5 to stay in the set, he was broken for a third time and Norrie led 6-3.

In set two the players exchanged service breaks in the opening two games.
No break points then until the ninth game where Norrie held serve after saving one.
Serving at 4-5, Molcan was down 15-40, but he saved two match points, and eventually a tie break would split the players.

Molcan controlled the tie break, winning four of the first five points, two off the Norrie serve.
Norrie lost another point off his own serve at 3-5, and Molcan served out the set 7-6(3).

After 1-1 in the decider, there were break chances in every game. Norrie converted his three and Molcan failed to convert his two.
Norrie won the set 6-1 and the match 6-3 6-7(3) 6-1.

The Lyon title for Cameron Norrie was the perfect entree to Roland Garros.
