ATP - Barcelona 1R start

First round commenced in Barcelona.

2022 Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell an ATP 500 tournament, on Clayin Barcelona, Spain, 18-24 April 2022.

2021 champion (not defending):
Rafael Nadal (1) who defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas (2) 6-4 6-7(6) 7-5

7th seed Roberto Bautista Agut withdrew after the main draw was published due to a wrist injury, and was replaced by lucky loser Hugo Grenier.
Albert Ramos-Vinolas was instated as 17th seed and moved in the draw to the place previously occupied by Bautista Agut.
He has the first round bye originally given to Bautista Agut.
Ramos-Vinolas’ original place in the draw was taken by qualifier Egor Gerasimov.
Grenier’s place in the draw was originally reserved for a qualifier, but as a lucky loser he now filled the spot and played Mackenzie McDonald first up.
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina withdrew after the main draw was published due to fatigue, and was replaced by lucky loser Manuel Guinard.
Arthur Rinderknech withdrew after the main draw was published due to a wrist injury, and was replaced by lucky loser Gian Marco Moroni.
