Roland Garros 2020 - Women’s Singles 1/4 finals (2)

Day Eleven of Roland Garros 2020, and the last of the women’s quarter finals.

2019 champion (not defending):

Ashleigh Barty (8) who defeated Markéta Vondroušová 6-1 6-3


Quarter finals 

Danielle Collins v Sofia Kenin (4)

Collins saved a break point in games three and seven of the opening set, but Kenin converted the one chance offered in game five, which allowed her to run out the set 6-4.
The pair exchanged breaks in the middle of set two, and it was then on serve until the tenth game where Kenin was at the line. Down 15-40, the fourth seed saved three set points, but couldn’t survive a fourth, and the match was levelled.
The decider was decisive, Kenin breaking to love in the first game, then winning the next five, taking her place in the semis with the victory 6-4 4-6 6-0.

Petra Kvitová (7) v Laura Siegemund

Kvitová opened with two service games to love, and converted the first break point of the match in game four to lead 3-1.
There were no more break opportunities in the set, and the seventh seed comfortably served it out 6-3.
The contrasting second set began with Kvitová breaking the Siegemund serve, and games four through seven also went against serve.
Kvitová stopped the trend with a love game and led 5-3.
Serving to stay in the tournament, Siegemund fell behind 15-40, saved one match point, but not the next, and Petra Kvitová advanced to the semi finals 6-3 6-3.
