2019 champion (not defending):

Andy Murray who defeated wildcard Stan Wawrinka (4) 3-6 6-4 6-4

Semi final results:

Alex de Minaur (8) (Australia) v Grigor Dimitrov (4) (Bulgaria)

In their only previous meeting, Dimitrov won in straight sets at the 2019 US Open, round of sixteen.

Here, both were taken to deuce in their first service games, and then both dropped serve to love.

Breaks were exchanged in games six and seven, before sanity prevailed and ultimately a tie break.

Dimitrov lost his first three points on serve, and de Minaur raced to 6-1. Three set points were saved, but the Australian finally grabbed the set 7-6(4).

Break chances were missed by both in set two before Dimitrov converted for a 3-2 lead. This was consolidated although it took the survival of a twelve point game and two break points.

de Minaur broke back in the eighth game and another tie break was called.

This was like the first set, except Dimitrov dominated, suddenly ahead 6-0. Three set points saved and then the set claimed for Bulgaria 7-6(3).

Through six games of the decider, no service breaks, and only one break point, of which Dimitrov disposed.

Then three successive breaks, and de Minaur was at the line, serving for the match at 5-4.

Alex de Minaur converted the second match point and booked a finals berth 7-6(4) 6-7(3) 6-4.

Daniel Evans (United Kingdom) v Ugo Humbert (France)

The two had met once before, last year in a challenger in Quimper, Evans the victor.

This time, Humbert saved a break point in the opening game, then Evans levelled at 1-1.

Service breaks followed in the next three games, leaving Evans ahead 3-2.

No more threats to the server in the set, which was won by Evans 6-4.

Evans was broken in the second game of set two, and saved two break points in game four.

The break back occurred in the fifth game, and things were stable until a tie break.

The first four points went to serve, then only two of the next eleven.

Evans led 6-3 but saw all three match points disappear. Then at 7-6 that match point also vanished.

Humbert won the next two points and the set 7-6(7).

Evans dropped serve in the opening game of the decider, and survived three break points in game five to avoid being down a double break.

Humbert saved two break points to lead 5-3, and another when serving for the match at 5-4.

He clinched victory with the third match point 4-6 7-6(7) 6-4.
