Roland Garros 2020 - Day 8 Women’s Singles

Day Eight of Roland Garros 2020, and the top half of the women’s draw was dealt a double shock.
In last years round of sixteen, Simona Halep crushed Iga Swiatek in 45 minutes, surrendering just one game. A year on, the Polish teenager brought the top seed’s 17 match winning run to an end with the best display of tennis by a woman this tournament. In doing so, Iga has also prevented Halep’s push for the #1 ranking. Ash Barty will remain there without having played any tennis since February.
To continue the upsets, Italian qualifier Martina Trevisan said farewell to Kiki Bertens (5) in straight sets, ensuring that at least one semi finalist will be unseeded this year.
