Final:
Magda Linette (Poland) v Sloane Stephens (6) (USA)
Stephens won all three previous matches between the players.
However, they haven’t met since Stephens won a first round in Beijing 2019.
Stephens dominated the first set, breaking Linette in the third and fifth games to lead 4-1.
Serving at 1-5 to stay in the set, Linette was broken again and Stephens won the set 6-1
Set two was a complete reversal, Linette braking Stephens in the third and fifth games for 4-1.
No more breaks and Linette served out the set 6-2.
Stephens broke Linette in the fourth game of the decider to lead 3-1.
Linette saved three break points in game five, but couldn’t save a fourth.
Stephens led 5-1.
Serving for the match Stephens led 40-0, but Linette won the next five points and broke to trail 2-5.
Down 0-40 in the next game, Linette saved two further match points, but Stephens finally clinched it 6-1 2-6 6-2.
Title number eight for Sloane Stephens, and first since Mexico in February 2022
