All quarter finals have been played and won in the five ATP and WTA tournaments on show this week - including that between Anastasija Sevastova (1) and Sorana Cîrstea (5) in Bucharest.
It was the Romanian, Cîrstea, who began the better in her home country tournament. She out served Sevastova, not with first serve percentage which was low for both women, but with points won on serve.
Cîrstea won 63% on her first attempt and 50% on second delivery.
Sevastova captured 50% on initial serve and 37% on second try.
In general play Cîrstea was granted three break points, converting two of them. Sevastova took advantage of the sole break opportunity presented her.

The long sixth game of set two was key to Sevastova’s recovery, and she broke Cîrstea twice from three chances. Although her first percentage was inferior to the Romanian, Sevastova rode her luck on the second delivery and won enough points to level the match 3-6 6-3.
The top seed seized the momentum and in the decider lost a mere four points in her 4 service games - Cîrstea lost 17 of 29 points in her 4 service games.
Anastasija Sevastova defeated Sorana Cîrstea 3-6 6-3 6-2.
