Sinner won all six previous matches between the players, including two last year:
Davis Cup final and final of Canada Masters.
Sinner was first to break, in the fifth game of the opening set, and led 3-2.
Sinner served for the set at 5-4.
de Minaur saved four set points.
Sinner then saved a break point.
de Minaur converted his second break point to end a fifteen minute gsme and level at 5-5.
Sinner broke for the second time in the next gsme and led 6-5.
He served out the set 7-5.
In the fourth game of set two, Sinner saved two break points before holding serve.
de Minaur saved two break points in the following gsme but was broken on the third.
Sinner led 3-2.
de Minaur broke back in game six to level at 3-3.
Sinner broke for the fourth time in the match and led 4-3.
Serving for the match at 5-3, Sinner was broken and the lead was 5-4.
Serving to stay in the match, de Minaur was broken.
Jannik Sinner was victorious 7-5 6-4 and claimed his 13th title, following on from this year’s Australian Open.
He moves to a career high ranking of #3.
