Khachanov wins Qatar Open

First meeting between the players.

First final at this level for 18 year old Mensik.

Mensik saved a break points in game four of the opening set and held.

No more break chances and a tie break was required.

Khachanov won the first point against serve in the tie break and led 2-1.

Mensik won the next two points, both on the Khachanov serve.

Serving at 5-4, Mensik lost the point, 5-5.

The next 15 points went with serve.

Both players saved four set points and Mensik was left serving at 12-13.

Khachanov won the point and the set 7-6((12).

Khachanov broke Mensik in the opening game of set two.

He consolidated for 2-0.

No break chances in the next six games.

Mensik served at 3-5 to stay in the match.

Serve was held and Khachanov would be serving for the match.

Karen Khachanov served out the match 7-6(12) 6-4 to claim his sixth title.

First since Zhuhai in September 2023.
