Alexandrova had a 5-4 winning record over Ostapenko before the final, although Ostapenko won the two most recent matches, including a semi final in Adelaide, January this year.
Ostapenko broke in the fourth game of set one to lead 3-1.
Serving at 2-5 to stay in the set, Alexandrova saved two set points.
However, she couldn’t save a third, and Ostapenko won the set 6-2.
Ostapenko saved a break point in game three of set two, then broke Alexandrova in the following game to lead 3-1.
Serving at 2-5 to stay in the match, Alexandrova let a 40-15 lead slip.
She survived four deuces and a match point before holding, but still trailed 3-5.
Ostapenko served out the match 6-2 6-3 and claimed her eighth title, second this year, following Adelaide last month.
