Sinner won all four previous matches between the players, most recently second round Madrid in May 2022.
In the final players exchanged service breaks in games two and three of the opening set.
Sinner broke the de Minaur serve in the sixth game to lead 4-2, only to be broken back immediately and games were back on serve.
de Minaur saved two break points in the eighth game before holding for 4-4.
Serving at 4-5 to stay in the set, de Minaur was broken to love and Sinner took the set 6-4.
Sinner broke de Minaur in the fourth and sixth games of set two to lead 5-1.
He served out the set and won the match 6-4 6-1.
The title is number eight for Jannik Sinner, and first at Masters 1000 level.
His ranking is now two spots up to a career high #6.
de Minaur moves to a career high ranking of #12.
