Evans won both previous matches between the players, the more recent being a first round in Antwerp in October last year.
Griekspoor saved two break points in the fourth game before holding serve for 2-2.
No more break chances until Griekspoor served at 4-5 to stay in the set.
He saved a set point and levelled at 5-5.
Serving at 5-6 Griekspoor was broken and Evans won the set 7-5.
Serve was held through seven games of set two.
In the eighth game, Evans broke to love and led 5-3.
Evans saved four break points before proceeding to victory 7-5 6-3.
