Dominic Thiem (3) who defeated Daniil Medvedev (7) 6-4 6-0
The following players withdrew after entering but before the main draw was published:

- Lloyd Harris replaced by Thiago Monteiro
- Nick Kyrgios replaced by Jo-Wilfried Tsonga
- Reilly Opelka replaced by Pierre-Hugues Herbert
- Jan-Lennard Struff replaced by Gilles Simon
Casper Ruud, 15th seed, withdrew after the main draw was published due to an arm injury, and was replaced by lucky loser Federico Gaio.
Adrian Mannarino was instated as 17th seed, moved into the spot previously occupied by Ruud in the draw, inheriting a first round bye.
Rafael Nadal, world number 3, is top seed.
The other 15 seeds are all in the top 33
