Swiatek led Gauff 10-1 in head to head contests prior to this semi final.
Gauff’s only win came on a hard court in the 2023 Cincinnati semi finals.
Gauff served first and was broken, her last forehand wildly missing long.
Three winners from Gauff in game two helped her to achieve a break back point,
It was saved by Swiatek who proceeded to hold serve. 2-0.
Swiatek faced break point in game four, but Gauff wasted the chance with a wayward forehand.
Swiatek struggled to a service hold and led 3-1.
A double fault in game four left Gauff at 15-40.
She saved the first break point, but a backhand in the net meant the serve was broken.
Swiatek ahead 4-1.
Serving at 1-5 to stay in the set, Gauff delivered two backhand winners then held for 2-5.
Swiatek routinely served out the set 6-2.
Despite two double faults, Gauff held serve in the set two opener.
Gauff finally broke the Swiatek serve in game four and led 3-1.
Swiatek broke straight back in the following game. 2-3.
Gauff was broken again in the seventh game and trailed 3-4.
Serving to stay in the match at 3-5, Gauff led 40-15.
She lost the next three points and faced match point.
Saved with an off forehand winner.
A second match point.
Saved when a Swiatek forehand missed wide.
Gauff eventually held.
Swiatek served at 5-4 for the match.
At 40-15, one match point disappeared.
Victory came the point after.
Iga Swiatek won a place in the final, defeating CoCo Gauff 6-2 6-4
20 wins in succession at Roland Garros for the top seed.
