Dimitrov wins Brisbane International

Final day in Brisbane.

2024 Brisbane International presented by Eviean ATP 250 tournament, on Hard Outdoor, Brisbane, Australia, 31 December 2023 - 7 January 2024.

The tournament was dropped after 2019 and replaced with the ATP Cup which ran from 2020-2022, and United Cup in 2023.
Brisbane has been reinstated in 2024.

2019 champion (not defending):
Kei Nishikori (2) who defeated Daniil Medvedev (4) 6-4 3-6 6-2

Final:

Holger Rune (1) (Denmark) v Grigor Dimitrov (2) (Bulgaria)

The players met twice before this final, both times in 2023.
Rune won in the Wimbledon round of sixteen, and later Dimitrov won in the Beijing round of sixteen 

Dimitrov saved two break points in the opening game of the match before holding serve.
Rune saved a break point in both the fourth and sixth games, and held serve on each occasion.
Dimitrov saved a break point in the seventh game and held serve.

No more break chances, and a tie break was needed.

Dimitrov won both points on the first two Rune serves and led 3-0.
Rune grabbed back one of the mini breaks, then the remainder of the tie break went with serve.
This left Dimitrov ahead 6-3 and holding three set points.
Rune saved two with his serve, but Dimitrov served it out 7-6(5).

Rune saved three break points in game three of set two, which lasted over seventeen minutes..
He held serve.
Dimitrov broke in the seventh game and led 4-3.

Rune served ar 3-5 to stay in the match.
He held serve after saving two match points.

Dimitrov served out the match 7-6(5) 6-4.

Title number nine, and first since the ATP Finals in November 2017.
