Djokovic reigns in Paris

Final day in Paris.

2021 Rolex Paris Masters an ATP Masters 1000 tournament, on Hard Indoor, in Paris, France, 1-7 November 2021.

Defending champion:
Daniil Medvedev (3) who defeated Alexander Zverev (4) 5-7 6-4 6-1

Final:

Novak Djokovic (1) (Serbia) v Daniil Medvedev (2) (Russia)

This was the tenth battle between the pair, with Djokovic having won five of the previous contests.
These included two this year - Djokovic won the AO final, and Medvedev gained revenge in the US Open final a couple of months ago.

Djokovic was aiming for a 37th Masters 1000 title, Medvedev a fifth.

Djokovic was broken in the opening game, and Medvedev consolidated to lead 2-0.
Djokovic, with eight straight points levelled at 2-2.
Medvedev saved a break point in the sixth game, then Djokovic saved two break points in the following game. However the top seed couldn’t save a third, and the Russian broke to lead 4-3.
No further service breaks for the set, and Medvedev served it out 6-4.

Djokovic broke Medvedev in the fourth game of set two, then held to lead 4-1.
Serving at 5-3, Djokovic saved three break points before converting his third set point to level the match 4-6 6-3.

In the decider, Djokovic broke in the fifth game and consolidated with a love game for a 4-2 advantage. He broke again to lead 5-2 and be one game away from the title.
Despite Medvedev retrieving one of the breaks, Djokovic won the match by breaking the second seed yet again.

Novak Djokovic won the Rolex Paris Masters for the sixth time 4-6 6-3 6-3.
