Soonwoo Kwon wins his first ATP title

Final in Nur-Sultan.

2021 Astana Open an ATP 250 tournament, on Hard Indoor, in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, 20-26 September 2021.

John Millman (4) who defeated Adrian Mannarino (3) 7-5 6-1

Final:

James Duckworth (Australia) v Soonwoo Kwon (Korea)

In their first match against each other, eight games went by before deuce was visited.
Duckworth saved a break point in game nine, the only game in set one where deuce was encountered.
A tie break happened, and Duckworth led 6-3. He saw three set points disappear, and Soonwoo Kwon stole the set 7-6(6), winning the final five points.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the opening games of set two, and Duckworth dropped serve again in the sixth game.
At 2-5, Duckworth saved a match point, but only delayed the inevitable as Soonwoo Kwon served it out in the next game, taking the title 7-6(6) 6-3.

This was the first ATP title from his first final for Soonwoo Kwon, who moves up 18 places to a career high ranking of #64.
