Anderson, Bautista Agut win Pune, Doha

The final lead up tournaments prior to the Australian Open began with qualifying on 5 January 2019, before 2 current tournaments have finished.


Pune and Doha have already crowned their 2019 title winners:


DOHA: 

The Qatar ExxonMobil Open 

Roberto Bautista Agut (7) defeated wildcard Tomas Berdych 6-4 3-6 6-3

Former top 5 player, Berdych moves up 14 spots in the rankings to 57


PUNE 

The Tata Maharashtra Open 

Kevin Anderson (1) defeated Ivo Karlovic 7-6(4) 6-7(2) 7-6(5)

Former top 20 player, Karlovic moves up 31 spots in the rankings to 69

SYDNEY 


WTA

The Sydney International, on Hard, Plexicushion, a Premier category tournament in Sydney, Australia 

World number one, Simone Halep, is top seed

Six of the remaining seven seeds are all ranked in the world top ten, and the field contains 13 of the worlds top 20

Simona Halep, and defending champion and second seed Angie Kerber have first round byes.


ATP

The Sydney International, on Hard, Plexicushion, an ATP 250 category tournament in Sydney, Australia

Stefanos Tsitsipas is top seed, world ranked 15.

The remaining seven seeds are all ranked in the world top forty.

The top four seeds have first round byes, including defending champion and second seed Daniil Medvedev.


HOBART 


WTA 

The Hobart International, on Hard, Plexicushion, a WTA International category tournament in Hobart , Australia

Caroline Garcia is top seed, world ranked 19.

The remaining seven seeds are all ranked in the world top 51.

There are no first round byes.

Defending champion Elise Mertens is playing the Sydney International this year.


AUCKLAND 


ATP

The ASB Classic, on Hard, Plexicushion, an ATP 250 category tournament in Auckland, New Zealand 

John Isner is top seed, world ranked 10

The remaining seven seeds are all ranked in the world top 32, including defending champion and fifth seed Roberto Bautista Agut 

The top four seeds have first round byes.
