16 year old US qualifier Amanda Anisimova defeated Qiang Wang 6-2 7-5.

Anisimova reached the fourth round of the Indian Wells Premier Mandatory tournament earlier this year, the youngest since 2005 to reach that point, knocking out Petra Kvitová in the process.  In the next tournament - Miami Premier Mandatory - Amanda defeated Qiang Wang in the opening round, but injured her foot in doing so, forcing a withdrawal and out of tennis for four months. This is just her second tournament in her return.
