The first matches have been played in the Rogers Cup in Canada, and rain interrupted things in the WTA Premier 5 event in Montreal.

Not so for the ATP Masters 1000 event in Toronto.

When rain interfered with play, Maria Sharapova led qualifier Sesil Karatantcheva 4-1, and Tatjana Maria led Alizé Cornet 6-4 1-2.

Two other matches didn’t even have a chance of starting.
