WTA Osaka

This week five tournaments are contested across the ATP and WTA Tours. Some of the top ten players have elected to participate.

Toray Pan Pacific Open - a WTA Premier category tournament, on Hard Deco Turf, in Osaka, Japan, 14-22 September 2019.

Defending champion:

Karolina Pliskova (4) who defeated Naomi Osaka (3) 6-4 6-4


The following players withdrew after entering but before the main draw was published:


- Bianca Andreescu replaced by Monica Puig 

- Belinda Bencic replaced by Alison Riske 

- Anett Kontaveit replaced by Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 

- Marketa Vondrousova replaced by Yulia Putintseva 


The following player withdrew after the main draw was published:

- Anastasija Sevastova (6) replaced by lucky loser Whitney Osuigwe 

Elise Mertens was installed as ninth seed and moved in the draw to the spot originally taken by Sevastova.


Naomi Osaka, world number 4, is top seed.

The other seeds are all in the top 23

The top four seeds have first round byes.

- Qualifier Viktoriya Tomova defeated qualifier Alizé Cornet 4-6 6-3 6-2

- Camila Giorgi defeated qualifier Han Xinyun 7-6(6) 6-1

- Elise Mertens (9) defeated lucky loser Whitney Osuigwe 6-3 6-1

- Qualifier Zarina Diyas defeated Monica Puig 6-0 6-3

- Qualifier Nicole Gibbs defeated Alison Riske 6-4 6-3

- Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova defeated Dayana Yastremska 6-3 6-1
