Titles to Hibino, Pliskova, Peterson

Titles were won in three WTA tournaments - for one player it was the first on the WTA Tour.

Japan Women’s Open - a WTA International category tournament, on Hard Deco Turf, in Hiroshima, Japan, 8-15 September 2019.

Defending champion:

Hsieh Su-Wei (2) who defeated qualifier Amanda Anisimova 6-2 6-2

Final result

- Nao Hibino defeated Misaki Doi 6-3 6-2

This was WTA Tour title number two for Hibino, her first coming in October 2015 in the Tashkent Open.

The victory moves Nao 59 spots up to #87 in the rankings, still short of her career high #56.

Misaki also is back in the top 100, up 24 places to #83, closer to her career high of #30.

Zhengzhou Open - a WTA Premier category tournament, on Hard, in Zhengzhou, China, 9-15 September 2019.

The tournament was previously contested as a WTA 125K level event. It has now been upgraded and classified as a Premier tournament on the WTA Tour.

Final result
- Karolina Pliskova (1) defeated Petra Martic (7) 6-3 6-2

2019 has been a stellar year for Karolina, making five WTA Tour finals, and winning four, three at Premier category and one at Premier 5 category.
Her Grand Slam tournament performances haven’t quite mirrored her other success, but a semi final at the Australian Open, and round of sixteen at both Wimbledon and the US Open were enough to keep her in contention for the world number one ranking.
Currently, she remains at #2, but has closed to within less than 100 points of the top spot.
Petra remains at #23, but is close to the top 20 and her career high of #20.

Jiangxi Open - a WTA International category tournament, on Hard Deco Turf, in Nanchang, China, 7-15 September 2019.

Defending champion:

Wang Qiang (2) who defeated Zheng Saisai (6) 7-5 4-0 (retired)

Final result

- Rebecca Peterson (5) defeated Elena Rybakina (4) 6-2 6-0

In her first WTA Tour level final, Rebecca dominated the match and lifted her first trophy.

For the tournament the champion dropped just one set, and while two of her matches were competitive, in the other three she surrendered just 9 games in total.

As a result, Rebecca jumps 26 places to equal her career high ranking of #52.

Elena finds herself at #49, a new career high, after leaping 20 spots. Her previous best was #61.
