Miami Open starts this week

On Monday 18 March in Miami, the second of the Sunshine Double, following Indian Wells, began with qualifying matches

It combines both WTA and ATP tours.

Defending champion:

Sloane Stephens (13) who defeated Jelena Ostapenko (6) 7-6(5) 6-1


The following players withdrew after entering but before the main draw was published:

  • Ekaterina Makarova replaced by Sara Sorribes Tormo
  • Maria Sharapova (shoulder injury) replaced by Margarita Gasparyan

Naomi Osaka, world number 1, is top seed.

The other 31 seeds are all in the top 35

All 32 seeds have first round byes.
