Keys final semi finalist in Zhuhai

Final round robin match in Zhuhai

AZALEA GROUP

Qiang Wang (11) defeated Madison Keys (6) in a dramatic turn around.

Keys began with a bang, smashing Wang with a commanding forehand and returning with just as much power.  It was 5-0 in a flash, and the set was 6-1 to the American.  Wang had won just one of eleven points on her second serve in the set.

Keys broke to lead 2-1 in set two, but then was broken for 2-2.  Another service break and then Keys almost consolidated leading 3-2 40-0.

However, Wang cashed in on some errors and broke back (the fourth successive dropped serve)

It was the beginning of eight straight games for the Chinese player, much to the delight of her home nation crowd.

Keys held serve for 1-4, but it was her final hurrah, Qiang Wang running out the winner 1-6 6-3 6-1.

All three players in the group ended with a win and a loss, so it came down to best record on sets to decide the semi finalist from the group.
