ATP Quarter finals
- Gaël Monfils v qualifier Ricardas Berankis
Monfils took Berankis to the cleaners in set one, winning 61% of points on the Lithuanian serve, and breaking twice. Not facing a single break point himself, the French player took the set 6-1. Set two was vastly different, and although Monfils won 17 of 21 points on his first serve, Berankis was able to crack the delivery twice. Monfils also broke twice, and a tie break arrived, one in which Berankis outplayed his more credentialed opponent and squared the match 1-6 7-6(3).
Despite having his service broken once in the decider, Monfils was in no trouble, winning 29 points to 17, and extending his run of victories to eight.
- Stefanos Tsitsipas (5) v Hubert Hurkacz
Following his upset victory over top seed Nishikori, Poland’s Hurkacz pushed Tsitsipas to the limit in set one, and only in the tie break did the fifth seed win the important points and lead 7-6(4).
Down a break in set two, Hurkacz rebounded to send it to another tie break, this time a Polish perfection. 7-6(1).
The decider was a fizzer, Tsitsipas dominant on serve, and victorious 7-6(4) 6-7(1) 6-1.
